A Sweetheart Making Treats From the Heart

This past weekend I was invited to a surprise birthday party for one of my friends at a beautiful park in Poway, California. It was pretty different from any type of birthday party I have ever been to. Everyone had to bring a dish...potluck style. Pretty neat idea if you ask me.
First I must say I thought it was absolutely amazing how members of a church (Christ Community Church) got together and came out to not only surprise but to celebrate the birthday of one of their fellow church members. What I saw was loving and genuinely caring individuals who worked hard to make someone else's special day SPECIAL. They all put great effort into preparing a few of their favorite dishes. While there were several great dishes there to enjoy, I found one dessert to be extra cute, tasty and quite creative. It belonged to Mrs. Jennifer Chavez. She has found joy in baking cakes in such an uncommon manner. She made cake cones for the guest of the party to enjoy. They were little cake balls put into a miniature ice cream cone and decorated with whatever the baker saw fit. In Jennifer's case, she used chocolate and colorful sprinkles to top hers. A few pictures of her work are below.

These two photos above are pictures of her cake cones. How cute is that right? Just think...that's cake underneath that icing! If you are anything like me then you just love yourself some cake and this would be the perfect treat. This next picture is a photo of her cake balls. How unique is that? This definitely could be a great little treat gift to give someone. Those are cakeballs with chocolate and nuts.

She had also made some cute little ice cream bonbons but I could not get the photo to cooperate. Nontheless, I must say,  she is absolutely fabulous at what she does! If there is anyone here in the San Diego area that may be looking for a unique dessert such as the ones mentioned here I would definitely recommend you try Jen's treats. Not only are they good and affordable but they are made with love.
