My hubby surprised me on my graduation night with a dinner for two at The Melting Pot. I have been wanting to visit this spot since we first moved to San Diego about a year ago. I was TOO excited! I had read several reviews on the place before so I was sure that the attire was "dressy" and the menu was "Fondulicious".
There are several locations throughout San Diego and I must say they have a look that just draws you in from the street. However, after checking in for our reservations and being escorted to our table I noticed something. Many of the people there were dressed in t-shirts and jeans type clothing. Me? I had on my little black and white dress number so I was beginning to feel a little over dressed. But then we were seated and our little area had a feel of privacy. Needless to say I was able to relax and just revel in the ambience set for us.

I had no idea we were going to be cooking our own food! After taking our orders, they brought out this plate of raw steak, pork, chicken, shrimp and ravioli dressed with cute garnish on the plate. Below is what your plate may look like when they bring out your order. We were totally taken by surprise when we saw all of the raw meat on our plate. Hubby and I looked at one another then at the waiter thinking what is this? Then they explained to us that we'd have to cook our own food. Hmm...and it turned out GOOD!

Each table is outfitted with a built in burner and the temperatures are controlled by the waiters and waitresses. Believe it or not, the different meats cooked in a little as 2 to 3 minutes! You just put your meat on a skewer and place it in the pot pictured below to begin cooking. It was quite and experience not to mention PLENTY of food.

For dessert we had the flaming turtle flambee. It was sssssooooo delicious. Cheesecake, chocolate, strawberries, pound cake and so much more.

By the time we left we were stuffed. Definitely enjoyed this place and would recommend for others to try.

So, what's up with Sea World in San Diego? The answer to that is simple, EVERYTHING! If you are looking for a place to spend family time, then Sea World would definitely be a good spot to check out. The scenery was great and there were plenty of things for the whole family to do. My youngest daughter is 6 years old and of course she enjoyed herself. My oldest is 16 and she had a great time. Last but not least, my honey and I, we had a wonderful time as well. A few suggestions on attractions to consider would be #1 the Wild Arctic Ride which was great! The Skytower ride revealed some of the most AMAZING views of San Diego. You could see downtown and even the Coronado Bridge from there! The Penguin Exibit was a great one as well; the kids LOVED it. "One Ocean" with Shamu was absolutely spectacular but be careful not to sit too close to the action on that one because you'll end up drenched as if you had taken a quick dip in the pool!
